Lucas was born a month early, this past Monday morning. He is doing well. He is safe with Mommy and Daddy.

I'm Tired And I'm Busy
This is a bad combination.
It will end badly.
Well once in a while this gal who is on very restrictive activity level cannot help but end up busy.
I say about once a month I find myself with a week that is overwhelming.
I am excited about having Al home for a few days, but it has been tiring driving to get him and then driving with him for errands, two days in a row.
And...Friday is the big Show for Cam's band.
I am tired and my body won't sleep.
So I am gonna take a blog break for a day or so.
My friend Charles does something really neat when he gets busy.
He asks people to ask him questions about himself, his interests, his hobbies and fun, and his work.
So I am going to do this.
You guys get to ask me questions in comments and I will answer them.
You can ask me anything.
You don't have to be a blogger to participate.
I will start you off with something.
My favourite colour is Purple.
(notice the Canadian spelling!)

Healing Prayers Are Needed Today
I have a friend I made through blogging. She has KnitOwl blog. Her name is RheLynn.
She and her hubby are highly reguarded by my family.
They are young and married and left their home state for work.
They got a chance to work together by fluke.
They dream of having a farm for sheep one day.
They work hard for a job well done.
They have a great attitude, and they are working in the same circles as my Son Alex.
So we have a bit of an affinity with their lives.
Through RheLynn I learned about knitting charities.
They love cats!
And RheLynn is a knitter too!
We email gab as well as give props to eachother in comments, and it is a real cool penpal life for us.
At the beginning of the week Mr J. (her hubby) fell at work and shattered his wrist and did a faceplant on the floor and damaged his teeth.
This is a serious situation, but still I have to giggle cuz it is amazing that us geeks would have this risk at our job!
Laying cable is serious business.
This is a really traumatic stituation, and today Mr J is having surgery on his wrist and hand.
It is a scarey thing, being so far from family, and having to have surgery!
For those of you who remember how bad it was when Cam hit Carl in the face with the golf club driver, you can remember how traumatic that was for our family...
Well Mr J has that injury plus the wrist!

Suddenly
Well yesterday I had a very interesting MSN messege from borrowed son Rob.
It was around noon, and he messeged me from work.
Did you hear what happened to Becky? (his sister)
I said No.
He said she had her baby this morning.
Holy Crap!
She isn't due for another
month!
We haven't even had a shower for her yet!
Oh boy.
Here is me with
3/4 of my
knitted out fit done and all the presents in shopping bags on the floor, and the baby is here!
Poor thing. You can take that as an Aww for the wee baby who came early, but also for poor Mom who ended up with an unplanned C section.
Nothing ever goes like planned. The baby tried to do a face plant exiting the warm place. Not easy to do. Dr. felt it would be way less dramatic and traumatic than delivered posterior (spine to spine and face up).
For a month early he is a good size. 6lbs 1 oz I believe. I expected 
him to be full term 7 and change cuz Becky is really petite.
He is in a warm isolation bed as a precaution for jaundice.
Grandma Charlotte says the baby is really cute! Her first Grandchild.
Lucas, Robert Blair. I think it is a great name. I wonder if he will have reddish hair like his Dad?

I Found Treasure!

This weekend I continued the archiving of my vintage knitting and crafting books.
I want to share with you the best prizes of my find!
I know that those who knit will see the value.
I also put in something for the Gals who have there little Etsy shops for soft toys--patterns!
I cannot believe how emotional it was for me to look at the books from my Great Grandmothers, Grandmothers and my Mom.
I looked through the pages of the books and I began to see crafts that were made. Crafts we had in our lives that my Grandmother had made.
I saw the pattern for the little green knitted lace dress my Mom made for me.
I found the pattern I used to make my first sewn baby jacket in grade 7.
I found the pattern for the Bucky Beaver sock doll I made and gave to someone as a gift.
I found the patterns my Nanny Lil had to knit all the Barbie clothes I had.
I saw old knitting pattern books from 1963, the year I was born. I saw knitting patterns as old as 1914. Most of them could be used in high fashion knits today!
I showed my husband knitting and craft magazines from 1957 when he was born.
I also kept every craft book I have ever purchased since the early '80's.
I am feeling really blessed today!
I have the best books to make beautiful crocheted doilies ever!
I will make the book covers into slideshows. But now I want to show the best treasures of the archives!

My Own Design
Size 8 round knitting needlesCast on one stitch. Work the rows to the 12th row from the bottom of the pattern up. You then see the #5. Work 5-12 upwards over and over again till desired length. Yarn colour changes take place anywhere you have two of the same stitch in a row. E.g main work is Purl in two rows like #8 and #9
