Peanut Butter And Crabs

I was looking at some YouTube videos and noticed that one gal was feeding her crabs peanut butter.
I was thinking that might be worth a try. I have organic peanut butter with no additives...so I tried it. And they loved it!

This is Chupi

To see all my crabs you can go here. The un-named crab is now Hagrid, seeing he is the giant.

Bunny and Bloomin' Roses

Join

You can click any pic to make it bigger.

Well the bunny showed itself about two weeks ago.....finally.
No sign of the twins though.

The grey squirrel with the white 'fohawk' has 4 babies that look exactly like her!

The raccoon family got caught in Donna's attic, and were evicted!
So now we are all worried the refugees will try to bed-down in our attics.
Needless to say there are many sleepless folk armed with power beam lights and shovels.
Oh...and I have my machete ready!
Oh I am so "Indiana Jones"
So the first roses are showing nicely. I hope to have more garden pics in the next days, as the day lillies are beginning to bloom now. I also see some happenings with the glads

Father's Day In Peterborough!

Well Sunday (Father's Day) ended a fanny-tastic weekend!

Amber could not come to the party, as she had a lot of work to do for her thesis, and Friday(when we traveled) was sample gathering day for her.

I really missed her this weekend. When she is not around I am the only girl in our little family.

When we all went to Peterborough to drop Alex off, he treated us to a Father's Day dinner at the Olde Stone Inn and Brewery.

Carl and Me
(do I look less puffy today?)

Cam and Carl

Al had the Burger, Carl and Cam had Fish and Chips

Amber had Thai Noodles

And I fudged a diet-ish meal out of two appetizers:
Plain Chicken Wings and a Salad.
I didn't eat the carrots.

I was going to erase this pic.....but then I thought the hand movement looked cool.

Back at the apartment Candy kitty was the primary attention.

Another one I was going to erase and thought better of it.

Candy found some paper to crunch on!

The Crabitat Gets A Facelift
(there is another new post or two below this)

We now have 6 Hermit Crabs. Crusty did not survive his molting (poor thing). We now have old Crabby Jack still, and we have added a really little one called Sebastian (he has a really unique shell), and the rest are still un-named. I believe the other crabs will be named Sponge Bob Square Pants Characters. If you have any ideas for names, please put them in comments.
Over the next couple of days I will try to get photos of the crabs

The new hamster is yet un-named too. She is all black with white paws. Remember the other Hamster is Kiki...... What do you think we should name the new black friend of Kiki?

It's Tuesday.......All day!

This was a very eventful day.
Carl had an interview in Toronto, so I tagged along.
There was a mall right next door to the building so I went browsing.
Well, I don't browse malls much cuz I WILL buy. So I purchased.

I got some nice sandals and two more hermit crabs
They are very frisky. Much more lively than the ones we already have.
I am excited because these ones play with me. They love to get out and crawl around, and they pop their heads out right away when I put them in my hand.

So I am changing up the crabitat a bit to accomodate two more to the population.
I haven't named them yet. Cam suggested porn star names because they are frisky!

After getting the Crabs, Carl and I went to The Rainforest Cafe at Yorkdale. We have some video of the thunderstorms in the cafe.

I finally found new pond lights, so they will be ready for the grotto waterfall when we get it running this week.

The garden in the front of the house is almost in full bloom. So there are pics of that too.

Crabitat For Humanity

I got a comment from Michelle for one of last weeks posts. She has all sorts of info on her blog about hermit crabs. I got some good advice, and I noticed something really cool in her habitats. She made hemp nets and hammocks for her hermit crabs to play on.

I got really excited! I don't have hemp but I have cotton, so I decided to try my hand at making crabitat nets for my guys. I really appreciate her idea, and I am psyched now about the habitat.
This will give me new ways to create cool high-level areas for the crabs!

I made my nets rainbow.

So my rainbow corner bridge is set. Now it is time for a platform!

I made a platform with a hole in it so the bridge could go through it and connect both slings.

I sprayed down the platform with water, and formed it into the sag I wanted. The rainbow ramp is attached to the little log.
By putting in this sling platform I create shadows for a sense of security for Crust and Crabby Jack, and the moistened platform holds enough moisture to keep the humidity nice and high.
I used to have to turn off the light for a while so the crabs would come out and feed. Now the shadows will allow me to keep the warm dayglow light on all the time.

Now I hope they will make use of my little slings!

Baby Kitty Candy

We took these photos in the last week of January.
Candy lost some weight when she was recovering from her "hysterectomy"
Her belly looks good and her appetite is back now!

Alex squirts Candy with water if she tries to do something inappropriate.
Amber and Alex have worked really hard on squirting Candy for clawing, biting, or chewing things she is not allowed to consider playtoys.
So far Candy has responded well with this. She was able to keep her claws.
Amber trims her nails all the time.
She has turned out to be a really really good kitty.
