AAAAAAhhhhh! I have shaped the heel 4 times on these socks. It looks right until I begin to join the the ends back to make that 45 degree angle in the heel. Knit is perfect. The Purl side is crap! Knit is nice an tight with no spaces and the Purl is all gappy. I must be winding the Purl (yo) incorrectly. GRRRRrrrrrr!
They look nice though, like the wool, very pretty.
You're makinng great progress! The heel is always the hardest, and maybe you need to try a different kind of heel? I've found one type that works for me. I'm not sure what you mean about joining back to get the 45 degree angle though -- hmm.
I followed the Socks 101 tutorial at royea.net and it always has worked.
Good luck! The yarn is beautiful :)
I sure wish I had your talent!!
