On Friday Cam and I Went To the Metal Works Institute

It is that time of year when all aged teens must tour post secondary education facilities.
Metal Works Institute was first on the list.
We were invited there last year, when the production college began.
Metal Works is the main studio that works with the production agency that Fall The Loss uses for their Ontario gigs.
When the school opened last year we were the first on the mailing list.

Cam and I took Friday to go to Mississauga and look at the school.
One of my past students goes to Metal Works and he is very happy with the education.

This is a condensed pure techical pure hands on in real-life applications college attached to Canada's largest music production and video/audio production house.

Prince produced his last album here.
Chantal Kreviazuk will be in the studio to produce some video and audio for AOL next week. Everyone that comes in to produce their work now has to agree to give a lecture at the college. This is great for the students to learn from the pros who are active in music now.

They are running Pro Tools, so the students are running Mac!

It is a 12 month program broken down into 4 month terms. They do something like 2400 hours of production time on site. It is a very intense program.

They teach music production, Video sound production and voiceover, and video game sound production.
They teach digital, digital video and analog audio video as well.

It is a private college, but it is a registered Canadian Institution.
The program is $19,500.00! OW!!

It is a one year course. It goes from September to September.
To give you an idea how expensive it is compared to other post secondary schools here in Canada....
Away University with residence and food plan in Canada costs about $15,000.00 per year.
College costs about $ 3,000.00 for the course per year and about a max of $7,000.00 per year with tuition, residence and food.
